may we heal? is a research, installation, and dance performance that takes a sensory approach to art making to engage generational trauma. The performance uses architectural pieces with each design expressing a different element that references historical and artistic associations within Black culture and experience. The architectural pieces serve as a centerpoint to both engage the audiences and facilitate the healing of a body through the senses.
Serving as the Artistic Director and Choreographer, may we heal? is dazaun soleyn’s debut performance at the inaugural Seismic Shift artist in residence program based at the Geneva Powerhouse. Claire Fisher, Performer, and Jordon Dabney, Musician/ Spoken Word Artist, are both Bay Area collaborating artists that share the identities of the stories being uplifted in the performance. The work will also include Isadora Duncan Award nominee, Giordan Cruz.
